The Suze's Pretties

This weekend I took the boys to Dallas for quick trip to surprise The Suze for her birthday! I was able to snap a few pics for y'all in between eating Bubba's fried chicken and mashed potatoes (I seriously are it 4 times and was only there two days). <div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg02MsCS1sDdZ65wbny6HVozrN8-E_Dyy_FdEJZIWgaWfbNndPwP0KFKZGecKmPfWgng9c55GfAqWVlD7UcbN0T0Nu6jRVt820AyEazJljou9VLoINPKABR1W3A6n1Su_wcjiW0U2g0Y6o/s640/blogger-image-970783979.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg02MsCS1sDdZ65wbny6HVozrN8-E_Dyy_FdEJZIWgaWfbNndPwP0KFKZGecKmPfWgng9c55GfAqWVlD7UcbN0T0Nu6jRVt820AyEazJljou9VLoINPKABR1W3A6n1Su_wcjiW0U2g0Y6o/s640/blogger-image-970783979.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>She had her sofas recovered and had them redo the arms to make them more tuxedo-like rather than the over-sized arms that were so popular when she bought them in the 90s. I picked up our favorite peachy pink roses because I knew she would want me to get myself flowers for her birthday (Of course, she has some flowers and sussies coming her way, I just stumbled on these at the grocery store). That's the kind of wonderful mom she is, one who genuinely delights in her children indulging in her favorite flower. <div><br></div><div>If I were in Dallas to celebrate with her I would probably make her walk down to <a href="http://www.ebby.com/property/32496803/3416-Drexel-Drive-Highland-Park-TX-75205">this house, which is for sale nearby</a>. <br><br>Checking out local real estate is one of our favorite things to do together.  This house pretty much looks like it's made for me (or The Suze). I love Kansas City, but it would be amazing to live down the street from my family (free babysitting and steak!). <br><br>So Mama, for your birthday we'll take a virtual tour through this house together and I won't tell anybody that you insisted on driving. <br><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; HBD to The Suze & A Pretty Dallas House

A very Happy Birthday to The Suze , my beautiful Mama who inspired this blog and all things blue and white! I picked up our favorite peachy...

Weekend with The Suze

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The Suze came to visit me over the weekend and we had a great time. It's always nice to have an extra hand when I'm planning one of my kids' birthday extravaganzas.  And it's fun to have somebody to talk to about decorating stuff who truly loves everything as much as I love it.  I don't think there's anyone out there who is as much on the same wavelength as me when it comes to our surroundings as my Mom.  It's a great bond.  </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">While The Suze was here, my dad sent us some pictures of the new kitchen lights they installed that day.  The Suze was so happy she declared, "oooh, it's like a charm bracelet!!" (Anyone who knows The Suze knows that a charm bracelet is the ultimate in happy sparkles for her).  </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpBXMlzsJqdnnNlMhtPIj4jj1X5ZI1JpTuBCpeOb3mAOlIlxuedvByPlRmB7YO26KnXVtvYu3TrmTabHapIcfLJe_ypZK90p91-iwxRJHtJXc0u1EMRwBX1CevwVkmjaOeAEdFkRMgSL8/s1600/Sage+Design+66f2a0c06ec6815d4dc865dec2ce7188.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We also popped into <a href="http://covetedhome.com/">Coveted Home</a>, a local interior design and home decor boutique, that I've been dying to visit since my friend Tobe at <a href="http://becauseitsawesome.blogspot.com/">Because It's Awesome</a> told me about it (a <i>long</i> time ago).   It's taken me forever because (sorry sweet boys) kids.  Y'all know how life with little ones can be - they're great snuggling and laughter, not so much for home decorating.  </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We met Joslyn, the owner and designer.  She's a wealth of information and so sweet.  I love finding local Kansas City talent and look forward to following her work more closely.  That's one of my goals this year, is to shop more locally.  I'm the queen of internet shopping (although <a href="http://covetedhome.com/blog-2/">Coveted Home</a> does have an <a href="http://covetedhome.com/shop/">online store</a> and <a href="http://covetedhome.com/blog-2/">blog</a> as well!).  </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And finally, The Suze and I both decided we had to have this fabric in our houses.  It's gorgeous.  It's soft and velvety, but not velvet.  The texture is really what makes it.  I just want some pillows for my sofa.  I think The Suze needs to cover a big tufted ottoman with this for right in the middle of the family room between her two white slip-covered sofas on her sea grass rug :) </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmfZzQgnMIdPIVRevD9iGnBMr8FVxsXVHWswT0zCZQrO8CScr5RbAf1pb8kGcR4vFCLhITVOken1y5ANnD69AQBLY0Z8cd-dUIaZKTAzHKQ9C0po4cp1oc_bx9dfA_Vjf5MOfvkVC1tDc/s1600/IMG_4837.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; The weekend was a blast! This blog would not be what it is without The Suze and her excellent taste.  Now that she's getting "her house" finally, I have a feeling I'll be sharing a lot more of The Suze's inspiration with you!<br /><br /><br />

Suzeday Tuesday: Vignettes

It's not Tuesday. But welcome to my world where I never know what day it is. At least, I know where I am. I'm in Dallas at The Suze's house aka my house aka Edward's house because everything is his right now.  (He later acknowledged that the house belonged to his grandparents, but said it in a way that suggested he owned his grandparents. Gotta admire his conviction.) <div><br></div><div>Y'all know I love to share some pretty moments throughout The Suze's house whenever I come home. It always looks so pretty. I swear she'd be a great shelter magazine stylist. So here you are! The Suze is heading back to Dallas today :(  It's been a fun week and so helpful to have her here as I slowly climb out of the exhausting, sickly 1st trimester.  It's times like these I wish we lived closer.  So I'm dedicating today to The Suze.  Specifically, her 20+ year love affair with this wallpaper sample that she's carried with her for equally as long.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both;
