At the risk of sounding like an angsty mommy-blogger,  I'm going to just put this out there: I'm over August.  The kids don't go back to school until September and they are both soooo over me, but as much as they don't want to have anything to do with me, they also can't leave my side.  It's like the winds have changed and everyone has completely lost their mind, especially me.  I'm only saying this because I'm confident 99% of my mom friends feel the same way based on conversations we have ... with our eyes ... because <i>No, you may not crawl in the parking lot! Seriously, get up, that's so dangerous!  Look now your brother's doing it! Stop. No. Ok, you, stand right there, next to the car.  Touching the car.  No, with your hand, not your face.  DO NOT lick it, pleaase.  Yes, I see the dragon in the clouds, that's so cool, but seriously you cannot lie down in the street ever.  What?  No, we are not getting a toy today.  </i><br /><i><br /></i>The good news is, I can adjust my attitude.  With wine.  Just kidding.  But seriously, I'm going to try because Lord know I can't rely on my 2-year-old to pull it together. <br /><br />Now, enjoy these linkies!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.tickld.com/x/frustrated-mom-writes-the-funniest-letter-to-her-kids-about-their-summer">This Letter from a Mom to her Kids </a>about Their "Summer Behavior" made me LOL<br /><br /><a href="http://www.littlebeanshop.com/HOME-s/1828.htm">Back to School Napmats</a> - And you can have them monogrammed!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.ballarddesigns.com/chinoiserie-placemats/collections/new-items/all/356061">Ballard</a> is now selling <a href="http://www.ballarddesigns.com/chinoiserie-placemats/collections/new-items/all/356061">these blue and white placemats</a> I blogged about <a href="http://belclairehouse.blogspot.com/2014/09/my-new-caspari-die-cut-placemats.html">here</a> - I use them every day!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I just ordered <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/117255592/vintage-french-print-of-reptiles?ref=hp_mod_rf">this Vintage French Reptiles print</a> for Edward's room </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rachel-macy-stafford/8-ways-to-make-a-not-so-good-day-better_b_7930172.html?utm_hp_ref=parents&ir=Parents">8 Ways to Make a Not So Good Day Better</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.elementsofstyleblog.com/2015/08/which-nancy-meyers-kitchen-would-you-choose.html">A Bunch of Movie Kitchens</a> a la our favorite Nancy Myers </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/slideshows/19-hilarious-text-message-fails-by-mom/">37 Hilarious Text Message Fails by Mom</a> made me laugh</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://cotedetexas.blogspot.com/2015/08/before-after-ashley-goforth-design.html">Great Before & After</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I love India Hicks, especially when she gives me <a href="http://blog.indiahicks.com/newly-released-prince-charles-princess-diana-wedding-photos/">the wedding details</a> I'm really interested in  </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.thepottedboxwood.com/bam-that-is-style/">Emeril Lagasse's home</a> is GORGEOUS</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Super cute <a href="http://rdujour.com/2015/08/01/maison-dujour-modern-farmhouse-for-sale-in-austin/">modern farmhouse in Austin</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I love the happy, young <a href="http://www.mackenziehoran.com/2015/07/28/neo-trad-apartment-tour/">Chicago apartment of Summer Thornton</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">In which my <a href="http://becauseitsawesome.blogspot.com/2015/08/inspiration-hallmark-photo-stylists-home.html">favorite Awesome KC Blogger Friend sends me down a design rabbit hole</a><br /><br /><a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/11047961563469433/">The Problem is not the problem ... </a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>

Still in super organizing mode so I apologize for not coming up for air.  I just so rarely get in this kind of zone.  It helps that until the last two days, it's been too cold to expose your skin to air outside.  I would never get this kind of motivation in the summer.  I have become no expert at organizing by any means, but I have made a few changes from my usual organizing benders that I think will make a difference:<br /><br /><ol><li>I'm letting go of my typical need to make everything "cute" and <b>just trying to get it done</b> (i.e. I replaced cute baskets with clear plastic boxes that can withstand the murderous hands of my toddler), </li><li>I'm also <b>letting go of things</b> in general, and </li><li><b>Lots of labels.</b>  It's not pretty, but at this stage in our household it's necessary.  If something is not in it's spot, it's usually in the bathtub or the basement and it makes me insane. This helps everyone else help me.  And the kids are no longer off the hook because they can't read.  I printed pictures of almost every significant toy we have and each one has a place.  I also labeled a few food items in the refrigerator, which <i>really makes me look insane</i>.  BUT it's really helpful.  One quick glance and I know exactly what staples are running low, and I can put it on my list.  It's a technique called finding the path that uses the least brain capacity.  I just made that up.  </li></ol><br />I'll be spending the weekend working on the closets.  Yikes!  I'm not looking forward to it. I'm so excited to get to see some of my favorite people in the world and reminisce about our sillier days. I can't wait to eat, sleep and watch my bestie finally tie the knot.  We've been talking about this day since our college years when we'd sit up late at night, eating pizza, listening to Counting Crows and wondering if we'd ever find someone who would say, <a href="http://grooveshark.com/#!/search/song?q=Counting+Crows+Anna+Begins+%28VH1-Storytellers%29">"every time she sneezes, I believe it's love."</a>  Well, I don't think our guys would ever say that, but they feel it, and that's all that matters.  Love is in the air!  I hope y'all have a fantastic fall weekend! I've been playing around with pretty things.  Much like when Edward perfectly lines up his dinosaurs or Christopher empties the contents of my kitchen cabinets, sometimes it's nice to have a tangible display of things you enjoy looking at.  I believe in the olden days people would use a push pin to post things like this on a bulletin board.  Ha! Can you imagine?  Pinning things to boards in real life! Anyway, it's really helped me focus on how I want my home to look.  I get easily distracted by fun color combinations or cool rooms and it has lead me away from what I actually want to live with.  This year, I'm determined to make a change.  I'll have more on that next week.  <br /><br />Until then, have a very lovely weekend! <br /><br /><br />Enjoy these linkies!*<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">The wallpaer pictured above is called <a href="http://www.decoratorsbest.com/prod-EMPERORS_GARDEN_BLUE_CREAM-66507.aspx?SidebarCategoryID=589&Brands=130&Keywords=floral">Emporer's Garden by GP&J Baker </a>and it's divine.  </div><br /><div style="text-align: center;">They call it <a href="http://www.pureology.com/systems/perfect-4-platinum/miraclefiller">Miracle Filler Treatment</a>, but it's the best leave-in detangler ever <br /><br />I fell in love with <a href="https://us.babor.com/">Babor</a> products when I was in Sea Island.  <a href="https://us.babor.com/products/cleansing/7599-hy-oel-phytoactive-combination-set.html">This skin cleansing</a> set is my favorite.   </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Joan Rivers is such an inspiration to me.  She worked hard and stayed sharp.  I could never push the envelope like she did, but I hope I always try to embrace the hilarious and absurd like she did.  Even <a href="http://perezhilton.com/2014-09-04-joan-rivers-funeral-requests-book-i-hate-everyone-starting-with-me">her funeral plans</a> sound amazing.  #RIPJoan</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I love this little chair from the <a href="http://www.target.com/p/tilton-fenwick-skirted-chair-jax-blue/-/A-16169361#prodSlot=medium_2_2&term=tilton+fenwick+">Tilton Fenwick for Target</a> collection  </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.lifehack.org/articles/communication/12-things-happy-people-differently.html">12 Things Happy People Do Differently </a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">If your kid doesn't have a nap mat yet, you must get them a <a href="http://www.littlebeanshop.com/Nap-Mats-s/1884.htm">Little Bean Nap Mat</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://momastery.com/blog/2014/08/21/the-one-letter-to-read/">The One Letter To Read Before Sending Your Child To School </a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I've become a salad eater.  It's weird.  But I crave them.  <a href="http://kimberlyschlegelwhitman.blogspot.com/2014/08/krystal-schlegels-kale-salad.html">This salad</a> was <i>really</i> great. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Pair it with Gwyneth Paltrow's Apple Cider Dijon Vinaigrette from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/ITS-ALL-GOOD-Delicious-Recipes/dp/1455522716">It's All Good</a>, my obsession (the dressing and the book)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.thepottedboxwood.com/architecture-in-the-beautiful-battery/">Charleston through the eyes of a fabulous blogger </a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I need <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/11047961561497908/">walls this color in my house</a>.  What color is it?? </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/11047961561441718/">Stenciled Wall done right </a>(those are not my walls, I repinned it on my phone and it took the description with it) </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152654341243234">Oh Britney ... </a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><br /><span style="font-size: x-small;">*FYI, I don't do affiliate links here at Belclaire House. It's so sweet.  Do y'all have Mother's Day plans?  I wish I was spending the weekend with my mom, The Suze, but she's currently entrenched in an epic remodeling project.  It's pretty exciting and I can't wait to be able to share some of the progress with y'all!  <br /><br />We don't have much going on this weekend.  We have a gala on Saturday, for which I had nothing to wear so I'm using my trusty old standby <a href="http://www.renttherunway.com/referral/jhadley32">Rent The Runway</a>.  Hopefully, my dresses fit.  I've been doing <i>a lot</i> of shopping for clothes lately, since all of my summer clothes are either old or maternity.  I'm considering it my Mother's Day present to my self, since I've put my body through massive amounts of weight gain and loss over the past 4 years for the sake of having healthy children (that second dessert, totally necessary).   <br /><br />As is the case this time every year, I like to write a letter to my children telling them how much I love being their Mother.  I started this after my first Mother's Day wasn't the parade I had expected in my head.  I had a pity party, and then realized that being a Mom is a privilege and a gift and the greatest joy in my life.  I think about all of my friends who are struggling to be a mom and how much they would give to be in my position.  I also think about my friends who have lost their moms.  There are way too many of both.  <br /><br />I hope y'all have a happy sunny weekend!<br /><br />Enjoy these linkies with some grown-up Mommy drinkies :)<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">My friend has the <a href="http://adventuresofmyaandellie.wordpress.com/">most beautiful baby who was born with Down Syndrome</a> and she started to blog about it.  I'm thankful I grew up going to a public school, where kids like her Ellie were part of our classrooms.  I feel a special affinity and understanding for these amazing children.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://designerbagsanddirtydiapers.blogspot.com/">This post had me in tears</a>, but also put me in check.  Having a three-year-old is hard work.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I totally want to do this for <a href="http://dixiedelights.blogspot.com/2014/05/wrapping-up-year.html">Edward's last day of school</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">This <a href="http://www.littlebeanshop.com/Peas-and-Queues-Lanyard-Dress-p/pea-007.htm">Blue & White Little Girl's Dress</a> is perfect for summer </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.kellymarket.com/2014/05/blue-and-white-spring-tabletop.html">Blue & White Spring Tabletop</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I just bought <a href="http://www.hm.com/us/product/26037?article=26037-A">this maxi dress</a> and will probably wear it every day</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I don't know why I wasn't invited on <a href="http://markdsikes.com/2014/05/05/la-colina-continued/">this trip to Punta Cana</a> with Mark Sikes and Bunny Williams </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I would love to get my hands on <a href="http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2014/05/color-book/">this color book from 1692</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Hi <a href="http://prettystuff.tumblr.com/post/84824557727/dustjacketattic-photo-jason-michael-lang">perfect bedroom color</a>!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I whole-heartedly agree with <a href="http://thefoodogatemyhomework.tumblr.com/post/84519048816/wherever-you-can-fit-a-palm-tree-in-a-blue-and">this decorating advice</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">This <a href="http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/2014/05/lindsay-lohan-drunk-in-london-hiding-from-oprah/">Lindsay Lohan headline</a> made me LOL - So sorry y'all.  These glimpses of Spring have also kept me away from the computer (and the laundry room).  I'm trying to get the kids outside as much as I can while the weather is so perfect. I know this could be just a tease and that snow could still be in our future, so I think today is the day I will go buy a large plant for my living room and try to prove to Kip that I can keep it alive. <br /><br />I have so much to share with y'all next week.  Our living room is in a super awkward stage right now.  We have lots of new things, which is really fun, but I'm also dying to finish it.  It's a weird mix, but once it's pulled together, I'm hoping it will look like a room that's been collected over time. <br /><br />I need to know so much more about that room above.  That wall color is perfection and I love the petrol colored bench seat sofas and pops of turquoise with the classic chinoiserie coffee table.  And, of course, the plant sitch, while a bit intense for me, brings a little whimsy to a formal space. <br /><br />Enjoy some lovely links!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">I can't wait for <a href="http://www.elementsofstyleblog.com/2014/03/drumroll-please-cover-reveal-pre-order.html">Erin Gates' new book</a>! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Some <a href="http://blog.wisteria.com/2014/03/5-instagram-accounts-we-love-to-follow/">Instagram accounts</a> to follow</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I could spend all day reading notes from this <a href="http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/2014/03/kid-forges-moms-signature-on-permission-slip-fails-spectacularly/">Little Kid Notes gallery</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Gorgeous eye candy for <a href="http://segretosecrets.squarespace.com/segreto/2014/3/9/brass.html">brass lovers </a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://markdsikes.com/2014/03/10/blue-white-delights/">Blue & White Delights</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.greyandscout.com/2014/03/super-chic.html">Super Chic Upper West Side Apartment</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">You must see the <a href="http://www.domainehome.com/sarah-jessica-parker-new-york-home-vogue-question-interview/">73 Questions with SJP</a> if you haven't yet</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://joannagoddard.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-truth-about-seasons.html">The Truth about the Seasons</a> </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">This <a href="http://www.toryburch.com/calita-dress/11144184.html?start=130&cgid=newarrivals-clothing&dwvar_11144184_color=470&utm_medium=aff&utm_source=cj&utm_content=4441350">blue and white dress</a> for summer</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I'd <a href="http://www.isuwannee.com/2014/03/make-room.html">take this room </a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://littlebeancollection.blogspot.com/2014/03/waist-detailspring-and-summer-2014.html">Adorable little girl dresses for spring! </a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>
