My furniture painting secrets

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Do you learn the hard way and wish at the end you had checked things out a little more thoroughly?  This  overconfidence gets me in hot water more times than I would like to admit, but learn I do!  I paint furniture frequently.  That means lots of experience from too many mistakes. Here's my recipe now.</div><br />What goes under a paint job is very important especially if you are painting a hard surface like laminate. Paint doesn't like grease, and I always feel better if I sand a bit first. No need to overdo it!<br /><br /><h4>The Facts on STIX</h4> Keep in mind:<br /><ol><li>STIX is not a paint but a  primer/sealant, only a thin translucent coat is required; you are not gaining anything by going for opaque coverage.  </li><li>You don't  need two coats; don't waste it because it is on the expensive side. </li><li>You probably need a quart rather than a gallon for smaller jobs because it spreads a long way.</li><li>It is best  applied going in one direction using light but swift movements. In comes trusty BM Iron Mountain  to match the  family room colour scheme. Dining Room Ceiling: Picking Paint Colors

Morning! Ok, can I just put everyone who comments on my blog on speed dial?  Y'all are the best, especially when it comes to design dilemmas.  You always lead me in the right direction.  Thank you!<br /><br />So I thought I'd share a little bit of my thought process that goes into picking paint colors.  I'm as impatient as the next person when I decide I want to paint something.  But since we plan on staying in this house for awhile (forever), I want to be more thoughtful about my choices.   (This could be the most boring post ever or super helpful, maybe) <br /><br />Yesterday, I picked up some paint samples from Sherwin Williams.  I never made it to the place that sells Benjamin Moore because kids.<br /><br />I picked one color based on pictures I'd seen online (Topsail), one based on y'all's advice (Sea Salt), and one I just liked while I was in the paint store (Copen Blue)  <br /><br />Here they are painted on some boards.  I didn't trust my skills when it came to testing them on on the actual ceiling.  <br /><br />Top: Copen Blue SW0068<br />Bottom Left: Sea Salt SW 6204 (as recommended in the comments yesterday. Blue- A home decor trend to watch

So I was inspired to create a dressing area mood board. <br /><br />Two things I noticed:<br />1) I've been using the palm plant in a lot of my mood boards.  That's The Suze's influence.  Palms were like our other siblings, always reaching over to tickle our neck while we were sitting on a sofa. <br /><br />2) The end result of this dressing room is not at all what I had originally envisioned, but I kind of love the crazy mix of it all.  And while I'm not much of a fashion person, I did have fun picking out things I might want for my fancy dressing room.  I'm usually more preppy and simple in my attire, but I had fun pretending I was a cool fashion girl.  <br /><br />Hope you enjoy! <br /><br /><br /><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><div style="margin: 0 auto;
