Mood Board Monday: French Blue Accent Chair

Hello Friends!<br /><br />Who's snowed in? I am, but it's not so bad.  I should be organizing, but instead I'm making mood boards.  Classic procrastination move on my part.<br /><br />Do y'all have the <a href="https://www.chairish.com/">Chairish</a> app on your phone? It's an app (and web site) that allows regular folks to buy and sell cool <a href="https://www.chairish.com/collection/vintage-furniture">vintage furniture</a>.  They asked me if I would do a mood board for fun using one of their available accent chairs.  Obviously, I'm in.  I'm a nerd and find that kind of thing relaxing.  It' also a nice break from purging and organizing. <br /><div><br /></div><div>So I picked out <a href="https://www.chairish.com/product/48855/french-chair-in-new-blue-velvet-upholstery">this blue velvet number</a> to take a room from white to bright per their request.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgkvZoGETUDLSUwTuKnMU2LVvkL-cY4U7aGtfRPMC4waY9NHVGQnsZcJOJz-4Lr7XOUz2Y98ALeNlSoQyMm91XN2zuQuomlsKw4VZjoZx60YyzQmg2fsOUiObLN7PjDXHfGYaH4PSZ2HE/s1600/38df505c-42f3-45d6-9233-13468bb24b13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgkvZoGETUDLSUwTuKnMU2LVvkL-cY4U7aGtfRPMC4waY9NHVGQnsZcJOJz-4Lr7XOUz2Y98ALeNlSoQyMm91XN2zuQuomlsKw4VZjoZx60YyzQmg2fsOUiObLN7PjDXHfGYaH4PSZ2HE/s1600/38df505c-42f3-45d6-9233-13468bb24b13.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /></div><div>So pretty right?  I can't believe it hasn't sold yet.  I love an accent chair.  A room with lots of seating just looks more inviting, plus I'm always looking for a chance to sit down.  </div><div><br />Here's how I would use it: </div><div><div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 600px;"><div style="position: relative;"><a href="http://www.polyvore.com/blue_velvet_accent_chair_chairish/set?.embedder=8728156&.svc=copypaste&id=149609087" target="_blank"><img alt="Blue Velvet Accent Chair (Chairish)" border="0" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/lLsN7hsNdiQefF0MIv5mA/cid/149609087/id/uF52__m15BGZg4B_mu7EJQ/size/c600x600.jpg" title="Blue Velvet Accent Chair (Chairish)" /></a></div></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I love a bright pop of blue in an otherwise neutral room. This chair is bold and fun, but I also think it's really versatile.  I'd prop it right under a fun piece of art like the one above from my sister's friend and amazing artist, <a href="http://www.hallieeubanks.com/portfolio/paintings">Hallie Eubanks</a>.  I like the idea of a fancy french velvet chair mixed with slightly more contemporary furniture.  The <a href="https://www.chairish.com/product/52000/white-lacquered-occasional-chairs-a-pair">two white lacquered occasional chairs</a> are from Chairish as well. <br /><br />#blueandwhiteforever right?<br /><br />And, I'm back on my antelope carpet kick.<br /><br />Do you like?  I think I'd be pretty relaxed in here. <br /><br /><br /></div>

Moodboard Monday: Master Bedroom Ikea Hacks (Do I dare?)

Hello y'all!<br><br>First, let me present to you my very first Ikea Hack.  Since Kansas City just got an Ikea, I thought I'd try and be like all of the real bloggers and do something hacky.  But since I like to keep the bar low for my DIY projects, I didn't get too creative. <br><br>I actually 100% copied <a href="http://www.chinoiseriechic.net/2014/10/one-room-challenge-week-four.html">Beth over at Chinoiserie Chic</a> because I trust her taste. She gold-leafed the Vittsjo desk as part of her One Room Challenge project (see link above)  Her's looks way better than mine.  I got a little impatient at the end. <br><br>So here's mine:<div><br></div><div><div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipgi3Nenao85JyS-yZPAEe4oVCP2IfGxf92DoDB20a5n5toYRv3CPv-WQLagf_wpoOUcJfZJ8Yvg8_nLBEAfmOHCq4oAfZAxdKsfDBVcy-46dozNzFVz0IfEnkS-4wIOADP8msT1Hlls8/s640/blogger-image--1711814108.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; Of course, I'm created a moodboard for the one room we probably will not get to this year - our master bath.  It's huge and doesn't NEED work in the sense that everything is just fine as it is.  I'm just trying to figure out a way to make it more personal and retreat-like.  I'm thinking murals, marble, antiques and really fancy everything.  Ha! A girl can dream ... <br /><br />Be back with more regular, non-iphone posts this week.  Missed y'all!

Moodboard Monday: Awkward

We've slowly been getting new stuff in our living room.  It takes time in real life, especially because I want to the room to look like it's been pieced together over time.  I'm going for a "house on King Street" vibe where I pretend I live in Charleston and am accumulating pieces passed down from my Grandmama and mixing it with more modern furnishings.  I know, specific.  (P.S. Who's watching <i>Southern Charm</i> on Bravo? I couldn't tell you what's going on with the storylines, but I love getting a glimpse into some of the homes)<br /><br />Also, we have the whole issue of small children and small children stuff.  Their stuff takes up a lot of space and is not exactly chic, but I don't mind that.  I know it's soo temporary that it will feel like the blink of an eye. It just makes me focus more on having pretty "moments" in the room, if you will, as opposed to a room that can be photographed as a whole.<br /><br />So right now this room is in a little bit of an awkward stage.  <br /><br /><div>First, the good moments. </div><div><br /></div><div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJAtLtBBgxJ2bM1wakXH6lGhRetywjT2eltwohsLBWFzXnXll9DRO3-JFg9IyyuDlDG89fHC09i1kNdcB5Pd8BdumCLJrFxajAF0bGepyqXhEOeBPmEm3qz6tUvKrKS39BuMGn3uA29fE/s640/blogger-image--129194067.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJAtLtBBgxJ2bM1wakXH6lGhRetywjT2eltwohsLBWFzXnXll9DRO3-JFg9IyyuDlDG89fHC09i1kNdcB5Pd8BdumCLJrFxajAF0bGepyqXhEOeBPmEm3qz6tUvKrKS39BuMGn3uA29fE/s640/blogger-image--129194067.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">My new blue and white consignment store lamp.</div><br /></div><div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0J1a3-CC99GVpDrki8woruHTJXoZB_xPFhYLJGxWWr4FsrYmvGnRjeRR4JDhkmuPx7bTfLusVHF9j8_SwaNKPjEQMFOJR03SbX7dPJfuSmiTWp0Mw9CWPdgCFQ78m-sgo1HdHZfei4Qo/s640/blogger-image--199780043.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0J1a3-CC99GVpDrki8woruHTJXoZB_xPFhYLJGxWWr4FsrYmvGnRjeRR4JDhkmuPx7bTfLusVHF9j8_SwaNKPjEQMFOJR03SbX7dPJfuSmiTWp0Mw9CWPdgCFQ78m-sgo1HdHZfei4Qo/s640/blogger-image--199780043.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"></td></tr></tbody></table><br /></div><div>Rawr. </div><div><br /></div><div>And now for some awkwardness. </div><div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqFkuKjj63qqi_H4vLN_rhei6Jhtolbrqovt5rk3alVDStUacBc2rATUvaWp4GL_FU9QWVX47LY5Yx3bQRMm8wgXGjE3BsuR5NlylHJyN8IIlIhfsH4uxdJLK42Z5a7_n2_8dgIa9KRiI/s640/blogger-image--643826055.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqFkuKjj63qqi_H4vLN_rhei6Jhtolbrqovt5rk3alVDStUacBc2rATUvaWp4GL_FU9QWVX47LY5Yx3bQRMm8wgXGjE3BsuR5NlylHJyN8IIlIhfsH4uxdJLK42Z5a7_n2_8dgIa9KRiI/s640/blogger-image--643826055.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Add caption</td></tr></tbody></table><br />We have a trampoline in the corner. For this month's <a href="http://blog.thepinkpagoda.us/2014/03/the-march-blue-and-white-bash.html">Blue and White Bash</a> hosted by T<a href="http://blog.thepinkpagoda.us/2014/03/the-march-blue-and-white-bash.html">he Pink Pagoda</a>, I decided to put together a little blue and white kitchen.  This one is specifically tailored to The Suze.  There is a chance she may be embarking on a kitchen redo so I took the liberty of making a few decisions for her in the event they decide to pull the trigger.  The Suze and I both love a white kitchen and I think that by keeping it neutral and accessorizing with blue and white, you get the effect of a blue and white kitchen.<br /><br />It's pretty traditional, keeping with The Suze's style and what I know she wants: shaker style cabinets, classic colors like Benjamin Moore White Dove and Linen White, quartzite countertops as an alternative to marble (love the look of marble, hate the maintenance), polished nickel hardware (like these gorgeous <a href="http://www.bellacor.com/productdetail/schaub-and-company-878-pn-empire-designs-polished-nickel-cup-pull-94873.htm?partid=pepperjamFeed">pulls</a> and <a href="http://www.bellacor.com/productDetail/schaub-and-company-876-pn-empire-designs-polished-nickel-knob-94870.htm?ev24=DetailPage_Carousel_94870&partid=pepperjamFeed">knobs</a>), and beveled subway tile for a little elegant twist. <br /><br />I love the<a href="http://www.decoratorsbest.com/prod-CAMBERLY_DUSK_BLUE-350899.aspx?SidebarCategoryID=589&Categories4=1129"> Camberly Dusk Blue fabric</a> from Aerin Lauder for Lee Joffa.  It's pricey, but would be really pretty as a roman window shade over the sink and in the bay windows.  I also love a free standing cabinet in a kitchen, like the <a href="http://mytwodesigners.com/p-4306-currey-company-marion-library-cabinet.aspx">Currey & Company Library Cabinet</a> above, or one painted to look like a separate furniture piece.<br /><br />As far as appliances go, I have a few dream appliances of my own.  The <a href="http://appliances.monogram.com/ApplProducts/ZGP484NGRSS">GE Monogram Gas Range</a> is really pretty in person and just as good as any Wolf (but about half the price).  I love a <a href="http://www.subzero-wolf.com/builtin-refrigerators/BI-36UFD-french-door">Sub-Zero Fridge</a> and I would give up a small portion of my dignity for a <a href="http://www.subzero-wolf.com/oven/steam-oven/convection-steam-oven">Wolf Steam Convection Oven</a>.  My in-laws have one and I used it a lot when we stayed at their house while our floors were done.  It is amazing and can work in place of a microwave.  It takes a little longer to reheat things but the end result is worth it.  If our microwave ever peaces out, I'm getting one.  And finally, who doesn't love a farmhouse kitchen sink?<br /><br />Hope you like it Mom! <br /><br />P.S. Mom, the dog beds are purely aspirational.  We all know Ella will eat them before you can say "no ma'am." <br /><br />For more resources from this board, <a href="http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=115198439&p=2">see here</a>.  <br /><br />(Sadly, no one paid me to wax poetically on Convection Steam Ovens and the like, but if Wolf wants to send me one for free, I would not turn it down ;) )

Moodboard Monday: The Lady's Dressing Room

Morning y'all! Last week I shared a photo on Instagram of my bridesmaids dancing around me being silly. I'm definitely going to frame it and put it in my dressing area. So I was inspired to create a dressing area mood board. <br /><br />Two things I noticed:<br />1) I've been using the palm plant in a lot of my mood boards.  That's The Suze's influence.  Palms were like our other siblings, always reaching over to tickle our neck while we were sitting on a sofa. <br /><br />2) The end result of this dressing room is not at all what I had originally envisioned, but I kind of love the crazy mix of it all.  And while I'm not much of a fashion person, I did have fun picking out things I might want for my fancy dressing room.  I'm usually more preppy and simple in my attire, but I had fun pretending I was a cool fashion girl.  <br /><br />Hope you enjoy! <br /><br /><br /><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><div style="margin: 0 auto;
