So you want to hire a decorator

They do not dovetail into any particular look.   Everyone is different and their spaces should reflect  this individuality.   My approach:  I  compose spaces  in various ways, problem solve situations, use colour to harmonize or contrast; understand the various principles and elements of design and put them together to produce  interesting spaces.   I like to meet clients, find out about them as people, look at their spaces and what they own,  and then create a space  that is personal to them. The key to this process is listening and questioning.  Do clients  have to love what I love?  NO! Are there projects that are easy for me?  Yes!  I love mid century modern styling and like to mix it with more contemporary pieces for a  clean edged  look with lots of neutrals, texture, splashes of colour and interesting lines to create quiet spaces.  Can I create  traditional designs?  Yes!   How about eclectic?  Yes!  It's all about understanding the characteristics of these styles and working with the likes/dislikes of the homeowner.     <div style="text-align: center;">Is there a decorator in your future?  </div> </div>

The monochromatic color scheme is so soothing and I love the tufted, lucite bench.  Also, how fun are the monogrammed pillows?  I love finding different ways to display a monogram and this allows the monogram to peek out while also allowing for some throw pillows. Very genius :)  I could totally take a long, luxurious nap in here!*  *Y'all, sometimes I think about weird things I would do if I became a crazy person and lost all touch with reality. A lot of it involves taking naps in other people's pretty bedrooms. 'Cause. That's. Not. Weird. At. All.  I thought about this a lot when I was 7-months post-partum and had not one, single night of five straight hours of sleep.  I'm sure some of y'all remember how I basically only posted pictures of beds.  I looked at pictures of beds with the same level of enthusiasm and desperation as a tween stalking Justin Bieber's Instagram.  It was a special time.

Pink and Red

Morning y'all! White Walls

Yesterday we had the painter here to talk about painting our bedroom and Edward's future big boy room.  My friend, who was over earlier, asked eagerly what colors we were using.  I was like, "ummm Linen White for Edward's room and the same color as our trim  for our bedroom (Benjamin Moore Simply Irresistible)."  She laughed, "you and your white walls."  It's true.  All I want are white walls.  I'm so boring.  But I love white.  I wear it a lot.  I gravitate toward ads with a lot of white space - I know, random, I was an advertising major.  I can only sleep in white sheets.  And I feel like white walls only serve to highlight beautiful pieces of furniture and fun accent colors, especially blue and white.  I don't need all my walls to be white.  In fact, most of my walls were perfectly papered or painted when we bought the house.  But it seems to be the best choice for these rooms based on what I want to do decor-wise.
