Are decor trends important?

We spent Christmas with my family in Dallas and were sick with colds and sore throats most of the holiday.  Boo! Luckily, The Suze has made a cozy home that begs people to just lie around on the couch all day.  So we indulged in some laziness by the fire for a couple of days. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">We did have a chance to visit the new <a href="http://www.perotmuseum.org/">Perot Museum of Nature and Science</a>.  It was pretty awesome.  I definitely want to go back! Even more fun, my brother set up a "date" for Edward, and I <i>finally </i>got to meet my Instagram friend Bianca and her adorable daughter Lou (and the rest of her awesome family)! Merry Christmas Y'all!

To make up for my lack of weekend links, I thought I'd share some pics I snapped of  The Suze's house all decked out for Christmas. Of course, I took these fabulous magazine quality photos with my trusty iPhone. It's amazing I even got a picture with all the craziness running around me. We have a full house (3 large dogs, 5-8 grown up kids depending on who brings a friend home, 2 grandparents, and a toddler probably trying to climb a pear tree). I love when our house is busy with friends and family. That's how life was growing up here. Lots of people in an out, and I still find it very comforting. Anyway, enjoy your holiday y'all! Wrap it up

Trying to be earth friendly is an ongoing battle especially at Christmas.   I hate the fact that all the pretty gift wrap ends up in the landfill because  it isn't recyclable.  paper gift  bags work for me and I always reuse  those I receive. I  also purchase fabric bags when I see them and hope the receiver  passes them along to another person. When the last of my gift wrap runs out (probably this year), I plan to use brown paper (Kraft Paper) which you can recycle.  The options for dressing it up are endless. Snow! Snow! Snow!

Say what you will about 2 year-olds (and I have said it all), but they see things with so much wonder and amazement that it's no wonder they get overwhelmed sometimes! <br /><br />It's the first snow in our new house and it really is so beautiful to see how it highlights our yard and the trees around it.  We have lots of windows so it feels like I'm in my own little snow globe. <br /><br />I may or may not be able to post over the next few days. These images make me feel very happy and inspired.  Jewel-toned velvet and gold, floor to ceiling pattern, a gorgeous marble bathroom that still feels warm, my NY dream home, a perfect bedroom, and the grandest burl wood piano. All make my heart go pitter-patter. <br /><br />So yesterday, I was at Barnes & Noble attempting to get a few last minute gifts when Edward discovered some toys that he desperately wanted.  Naturally, he screamed at the top of his lungs the loudest ear-piercing scream I've ever heard.  I'm pretty sure the entire store turned around in fear that I was kidnapping him.  It was one of those awesome mom moments where you are equal-parts mortified and helpless because you know that this kid has <i>nothing</i> better to do than to get you to buy him a toy.  So I dropped everything and walked out of the store, but this time, instead of being furious and annoyed, I held him tight and gave him lots of kisses.  Because everything has changed.
